Many of you may know that Michael is training in the martial arts. In fact, I trained with him for about 2 years before having Ethan. But for Michael, it has always been a childhood dream to earn his black belt. On Saturday, July 11, 2009, that finally came true. Below I will post some scenes from his test. Suffice it to say, he looked awesome out there and definitely earned his First Dan rank which will be registered in Korea with the Kukkiwan Tae Kwon Do, or World Tae Kwon Do, Federation.
Here he is completing forms as Master Lee randomly calls them out, this one is Sr. Green Belt.

This shot shows him completing self-defense techniques from whichever colored belt Master Lee requested, this one is Blue Belt Number One.

Now he's sparring another black belt, Third Dan rank, throwing a double roundhouse kick.

These are the four board breaks he completed consecutively. Then he had to break a brick that was 1.25 inches thick, below.Master Lee ties on Michael's hard earned Black Belt.

Then in Korean tradition, a formal tea ceremony is shared between Michael and Master Lee.

Master Lee welcomes his newest black belt and the rest of the black belts pose for a picture with Michael.

Last week Ethan and I took a flight down to Corpus Christi to visit my mom and her family. We were there to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday, but ended up having an entire week of mini-vacation taking Ethan places for fun. Here's some pictures that show what we did during the week. The second day there, I took Ethan over to our family's house where he played in the backyard with Luke. He and Luke had a blast splashing in the sun.

The third day we spent at the Texas State Aquarium. Ethan and Luke really liked the fish and the dolphins.
I think the highlight of his trip was the last day we spent out on my uncle's farm. My uncle is a cotton farmer. We had my mom's birthday party out at the farm. Ethan made a beeline for the tractor when he saw it. My cousin Rob took him in the cab and even drove it for him. He was ecstatic.

I know we all had a good time. Ethan learned so many new words on our trip like airplane, boat, tractor, sea gull, dolphin, shells, and up and down. I hope we can visit again soon since Ethan really liked playing with Luke and Chloe. It was good to see all of the family.
